Road Trip Activities for KIDS
Road Trip Activities for KIDS
So many trips….and so many fun activities for kids. Thank goodness! You can never have too many. Here are a few of my NEW favorites.
Road Trip Activities for KIDS – Make your own travel family.
These make your own game pieces also make great paper dolls or pieces for imaginative playtime on the road. Thank you Jodi Durr from Meaningful Moma for this fun idea. You can make dolls for your whole family. Don’t forget the pets! Little boys love this, too! Call them people instead of dolls. 😉
Road Trip Activities for KIDS – Fun with Felt.
I LOVE felt for the road. It is quiet, lightweight, and has soo many possibilities for creative fun! Do not think it is just for little ones – creative fun spans the years. Paper doll type stuff along with older kid ‘tangram’ felt activities.
First….felt ‘paper’ dolls. Free download here from Rachel from Smile and Wave. These are so cute!
Boys love felt, too! Find your monster and dinosaur fun here.
Mr. Potato head felt fun! Great idea from Celeste at In the Waiting Place.
An easy to cut out idea from Georgia at Love and Lollipops. Robots!
Tangrams are perfect for older kids and math lovers! Use this pattern and cut your felt.
Next, print some shapes for the kids to create. There are many to choose from, but these are free from toolboxpro.
Kids a little older or are masters at this stuff? Try these fun tangram ideas at teachers-pay-teachers.
Put the pieces in a zip=loc baggie, toss in the carry-on and go!
Tangram chess
Still too easy? Have 2 kids that need to have some quiet fun? Rules of this cool thinking game here.
Road Trip Activities for KIDS – Finger Knitting
This looks like quiet and busy fun…great for planes and trains and automobiles!! There are lots of tutorials out there, but I like Rachel’s the best. She has pictures AND a video over at Lines Across.com
If you and your little knitters are beyond the ‘knitted snake’ activity. Clever Tammy from Raising a Forest has a fun headband and flower activity to make with those long knitted ‘snakes’.
A few more activities from Anne at Flax and Twine including a very boy friendly ghost garland.
Try whatever scrap yarn you have (Does everyone have scrap yarn? I don’t knit and even I have some!) or buy some of the new cool stuff.
Fuzzy!
Lumpy!
Shiny!
Road Trip Activities for KIDS – Super Simple Knitting
Why let those tiny rubber bands have all the fun? You can make bracelets with yarn. Check out this super easy tutorial here. Have the kids make several for their own arm and some for friends back home or for new friends you’ll make on your adventures.
Happy and busy travels!
