1 – Tangier is just 8 miles away from Europe but seems so much farther than that because it is so different. We loved the exotic feel.
2. Morocco is the world’s largest exporter of sardines.
3. The world’s oldest university is here in Morocco – al -Qarawiyin in the city of Fes and was founded in 859.
4. Morocco produces 80% of Europe’s hashish.
5. Green tea is the national drink and is most often served with mint and lots of sugar.
6. If you are offered meat by a Moroccan host, it is VERY rude to say no.
7. Be prepared to pay to take photographs of people like street performers.
