Passport for Honeymoon – Be careful that names match!
Here is one MAJOR tip for ladies who are going to change their name to Mrs. ___________ when they marry.
When you travel ALL your travel documents must have the EXACT same name – including spelling!!
I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about travel complications when a person’s name is misspelled on their ticket and doesn’t match their passport and/or photo ID.
So, when you are making your honeymoon plans remember to book all your honeymoon travel in your MAIDEN name. That way, even though you are married and you may want to change your name, your tickets and IDs will all match when you go on your honeymoon.
FACT: The act of getting married does NOT change your name. To legally change your name you have to take your marriage license to the courthouse and fill out paperwork. That takes time – sometimes weeks.
FACT: Your marriage license showing you were married is NOT a legal name changing document. This will NOT help you if you show up at the airport with a ticket in the name MRS. _____________ and your photo ID in the name MISS __________.
Passport for Honeymoon – Recommendation
Book all honeymoon travel in your maiden name for smooth sailing and change your name when you get home. Inform the hotel that you are honeymooners and they’ll still call you Mrs. and they might even give you a special upgrade or other treat in celebration!
